Who We Are, What We’re About
Wildcat Creek Nets is owned and operated by me, Bryon Anderson, with the support and assistance of my lovely wife Julie. The business is headquartered in my shop on the banks of Wildcat Creek, which runs through our property in beautiful Whitehall, Michigan,
I have been an avid fly fisherman for nearly thirty years. When I first became interested in fly fishing, I was also just starting out in the world as an adult, and the budget for “extras” like fishing gear was small. As a result, I got into making the things I needed myself when I could. I learned fly tying, rod building, and even hand-weaving furled leaders. Along the way, I realized that I enjoyed the process of making my own gear for its own sake. This led to taking up woodworking, and, ultimately, to making wooden landing nets.
I have been making nets for sale since 2020. I use Michigan-sourced hardwoods, primarily Maple, Black Cherry, and Black Walnut, spiced up here and there with exotic woods such as Padauk, Yellowheart, Niove, Canarywood, African and Brazilian Teak, and Sapele.
I have four standard designs that I keep in stock, which are featured here on the website. I have also done many custom designs to clients’ specifications, and I love the creative process of designing a net “just for you”.
